Imagine a busy morning at EDSA, the noise of the traffic and commuters off to their different destinations. As a police officer posted in MRT-3 Boni Station, PO1 William Cristobal is expected to do his duty on ensuring the safety of all the passengers because of the newly implemented “No liquid policy” in accordance to the heightened security caused by the Sulu bombing.
Jiale Zhang, a Chinese national happens to board the train in Boni Station while holding her “Taho” a soft tofu snack at around 8:30 am. Cristobal, called her attention and said that she have to finish it first before entering the premises. But Zhang have a different plan that day and chose to be an on-the-spot viral celebrity when she throws her cup of ‘taho’ on to the police officer. Many people were shocked on the scenario made by this woman, having the nerve of humiliating the poor officer in front of many people who happens to only do his job for the public’s safety.
Zhang was immediately apprehended for her misconduct and was turned over at the Mandaluyong Police Station. She will be facing charges of disobedience to a person in authority and unjust vexation. The MRT-3 Management is also considering to ban Zhang on all stations.
It is true that this new policy has caused inconvenience among commuters but we can’t compromise the safety of the people, so it’s best for us to just follow the rules and never belittle or humiliate officers and staffs that are just doing their jobs.
