The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Banking and Finance has set the date for their most awaited kick-off celebration for their 1st Finance Week which started on January 30, Wednesday. As the calendar of events was released, this activity headed by the Junior Financial Executives (JFINEX-PUP), will surely bring excitement to its students.
The first day of the event started with a parade attended by the Banking and Finance students at the PUP Oval. Accompanied by the lighting of the torch, the rampage for the muses and escorts has begun. The food festival presented different delicacies made by each section. The highlight of the day, the Street Dance Competition, started later in the afternoon.
Academic competitions happened on the second day, whereas the smartest in class has to represent its section on various competitions. The contest includes Basic Accounting, Basic Math, Basic Statistics, and General Information categories. The winners of these competitions came from the 3rd and 4th-year level. It also included competitions for those who are great at words as Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, Debate Competition, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Dagliang Talumpati took over on the same day. Checkers, Chess, Game of the Generals, Jenga, Pickup Sticks, Scrabble, and Uno has been enjoyed by the participants who love to play the games of not just logic, but also encompass tactics.
The closing program was also the most exciting part of the event. The crowd cheered as the announcement of winners began. Awards were also given to the Dean’s Listers as an appreciation to their efforts in excelling academically. Spoken Word Poetry also showcased the extraordinary poetic talents of the participants, signifying that the Banking of Finance students have more than just intelligence in numbers and logic. Battle of the Bands: the Half Time Rock Out ended the day with a blast from the different genres that the bands from various sections have offered.
