EDSA 33: A disguised campaign for the yellows?

By: Jeremiah Monreal

Opening the history once again as the “die-hard” movement representing the Aquino’s gathered along EDSA. Its undying memories and the people behind and in front of the “peaceful revolution” stood on stage telling the importance of the People Power to the nation’s capacity to kick the dictator out of its luminous throne.

But wait, the campaign season is on and we must expect that the “solid yellow party” will use the celebration to orchestrate their momentum on campaigning. The gathering of the big-time politicians coming from the cities and provinces will bark and bite the chance of wide campaigning with the use of the anniversary.

Expect the campaign banners with yellow ribbons on it.

The program for the celebration started in EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon, City and tons of flowers and tarpaulins wrapped the pillar. But we need to know that those “disguises” of the campaigning politicians whether those senatorial or local candidates will make a huge crap for the celebration.

Vice President Leni Robredo said “EDSA is “not defined” by any political color or specific group.”

And with that remark by the vice president representing the yellow-party, we can see her defending their principles and erasing the traditional “galawang dilawan” comments of their critics.

The people attended and supported the kilometer march are all part of the so-called “yellow-movement” but on the 25th day of February 2019, politicians together with their constituents will surely represent not only the commemoration but also flaunt their rotten platforms.
