Dare to Die: The MOMO Challenge

Internet is an ocean for the surfers like us. There are a lot of things to find in the surface web, either to educate or to entertain. However, as the ocean are expanding its territory the danger ahead are also charging to attack us in a very silent way.

Recently, there are numerous news about what we call the “Momo challenge” that surfaces around the world. Momo challenge is a game where the participants must obey to the dare that the game master was going to say. But the thing is the dare involves dangerous and immoral things such as suicide and killing.
The momo challenge is not far differ from Blue Whale and was reported circulating in the internet since 2016. The game was allegedly started in Russia. Like the momo challenge, blue whale also dares the participants to do such dangerous things such as standing in the edge of the highest building and so many more.

The Blue whale was inspired by the movie Nerve which was aired in 2016. The movie tells exactly about the real-life dare-game Blue whale.

The blue whale game and also known in today’s day as the momo challenge infiltrates surface web. It was allegedly started in “WhatsApp”. The aforesaid game catches the attention of media because of its alarming intent not just that, the game is targeting the children’s mind were younger age was more gullible and facile to persuade.

It is not just that. The face of a scary figure (see the image below) who was known as the face of momo is reportedly popping in any of the kid’s themed video. It is unnerving to know that the prey is somewhere in the internet, lurking and waiting for your children or youngers to be attacked by the unsettling vulture.

Recently, an eleven year old was reportedly committed a suicide in a school in Quezon City. He was delivered to the nearest hospital but reported dead after a few moment.
His mother stated that a moment before her son died something strange was coming out in his mouth. ‘I will follow my master and I will kill them’. That moment the mother, aula Bautista felt something unsettling. She checked the social media account of her child and found the eerie messages of her child to one of his classmates regarding about the game.
The Philippine National Police promised to eradicate the problem in regards of this game but as for now they are asking the parents to watch out their child especially when they are browsing in the internet.
Up until this time the said challenge is still circulating the internet. The frightening challenge is waiting for its next victim. Everyone must tighten their security in order to avoid such incidents. We don’t want our younger to become the next prey of the notorious challenge
