For anyone who is a fan of the popular Netflix series The Crown, it is a bittersweet goodbye to the old cast of the phenomenal award-winning show as Claire Foy, Matt Smith, and the rest of the cast bid farewell at the end of Season 2.
Way before, producers of the show announced that a re-casting shall be done every two years to depict a much convincing portrayal of the royal family as time passes. Hence, we now say hello to the new cast of the popular drama series.
Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies will take over the shoes of Foy and Smith as the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh when the drama returns to Netflix.

It was on October when it was announced that The Favourite and Broadchurch star Colman will be taking over the role of the Queen, succeeding Foy after much speculation and secrecy regarding the next set of cast of the show.
Obviously, the stakes are higher and the expectations are bigger following Foy’s Emmy best actress win for her role in the Netflix drama so the role shall only go to no one lesser than Colman, an Academy Award-winning actress for her performance as Queen Anne in Yorgos Lanthimo’s period romp, The Favourite.
After a prolonged search for Smith’s successor, Tobias Menzies joined the ranks on March last year as Prince Philip.
On Sunday, Colman was spotted filming, looking like the epitome of grandeur in a lilac floral coat.
Season three is expected to be released at some point this year, although Netflix has not confirmed an exact date yet.
