As part of UN-Habitat’s Rebuilding Marawi Through Community-Driven Shelter and Livelihood Project, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 1,500 houses for the internally displaces persons (IDPs) of Marawi happened last February 4, 2019 at Brgy. Dulay Proper.
The project is funded by the Japanese government with P500 million grant for shelter construction, and support for the livelihood programs and community development.
Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) also issued a check amounting to P248 million for the acquisition of the land where the permanent shelter will be built.
In order to complete the quota of 1,500 homes, SHFC is looking for seven more hectares needed to build the remaining houses. 21 land owners reportedly to have already submitted their titles but are still subject to verification to avoid conflict in the ownership of the lands.
Targeted to be completed by March 2020, the homes will be two stories high and can accommodate up to eight family members each.
