The worst is not yet over.
After the rounds of serious allegations regarding prostitution and drugs, South Korean Pop Singer Seungri stated his retirement from the entertainment industry in his Instagram post last March 11.
“It would be better for me to retire from the entertainment scene at this point. As this scandal is too big, I have decided to retire. As for the ongoing investigation, I will take it seriously to clear myself of all the allegations,” he said.
During the investigations, the police said they were able to find evidence incriminating another K-Pop star.
The police allegedly found evidence that Jung Joon Young, a cast member of the variety show 2 Days 1 Night, was secretly taking videos of sexual activity with various women and shared them in a group chatroom.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency revealed on March 12, “We booked Jung Joon Young and others in relation to allegations of spreading illegally taken videos this afternoon. We cannot reveal the identities of the other suspects.”
The singer admitted to all the allegations and announced his immediate retirement from showbusiness.
“I admit to all my crimes,” he said.
“I filmed women without their consent and shared it in a chatroom, and while I was doing so I didn’t feel a great sense of guilt,” he wrote in a statement released publicly on Tuesday.
South Korea has been concerned over the growth of the so-called epidemic named “molka” – spycam videos that largely involves men secretly filming women and sharing the illicit content online.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is expected to question him later this week.
