Most of us were raised by the chilling stories our grandmothers proudly narrate. If it was not the hell they experienced during the bloody war, it’s the urban legends that they cant help to spill. Even though these believes have always been outshone by the quote “To see is to believe”, we could not stop our powerful imaginations to give these a try, and the next scenario, we started to fear the dark.
Just to provoke your paranormal minds, here’s the countdown of Filipino Monsters you should tell to your grandkids when they would become a technology inclined.
This horrifying and monstrous creature is believed to be appeared in Capiz and far flung parts of Romblon. It is known to be the male counterpart and the partner in crime of Manananggal. To be able to continue their life span in Earth, they eat the flesh of children and even livestock with their sharp, deadly tongue.
The only way to end its presence is behead their heads, and burn its body. It is also believed that they have unstoppable curse which tells that if a woman marry a man, she will turn into manananggal and if she cant bare a child, her life will be replaced with a hunger for babies.
One of their modus is they replaced the body of an actual human until they catch their new prey. Unlike Vampires, they can survive the heat and light of the sun.
You can detect one of them by looking at someone straight into its eyes, and if you found out that its reflection is upside down, learn to fight.
If you have already watch the local movie “Tiyanak”, its a devilish little baby that deceive its victims looking a cute and pathetic baby wrapped in cloth, and if it succeeds, it kills humans specifically its parents to perform the bloody vengeance on them. A typical aborted child and a dead infant who was never been given a baptism that turns into an unknown monster.
One must wear the cloth backwards as it gives them a humorous feeling.
The least prominent spirits in the country where their trademark is they knock on the luckiest door to send the omen of the death towards the eldest child in that home.

While their lower part is relaxed to nowhere, their upper part smells for pregnant women and eat the developing embryo of a child. They are often associated with unexplained miscarriages.
The only way to fight their kind, is to find the torso and spill the holy water or salt above its half flesh.
The White Ladies are the spirit of women who the drivers or unlucky people catch their sightings in the famous Balete Drive. Their background story is they have been hit and run in that place and beg for justice in the motorists. They lure late night drivers to unknown places where they could face their deaths or just be lost.
It is believed that they are luring, beautiful ladies when approached. But when someone focus looking at their faces, these are too bloody and filled with cuts and bruises.
This tall, dark, and scary is the most kindest among the creatures mentioned above. If one sees it, relaxed, exhaling the smoke of huge cigarette, it helps the traveler to find the right direction. But the moment you catch its sighting in its bad mood, it tricks you to the feeling of panic and lost.
