Huawei top exec, Richard Yu confirmed that they have prepared their own operating system as the possibility of being banned from using Android and Windows OS increases.
An unnamed source of South China Morning post claimed that Huawei’s own OS started to develop in 2012.
Huawei’s charges of technology theft, bank fraud, financial fraud and breaching of economic sanctions against Iran and money laundering made its relationship with the US become bad sparked the need of its own OS.
US formerly banned ZTE for violating trade sanctions against Iran they were blocked from dealing with US companies. This scenario is not what Huawei want to happen.
Being the second most largest Smartphone maker, Huawei is capable of producing their own Smartphone processors but not on their laptops which demands mostly on US-made Intel processors.
For the past decade, tech giants already made an alternative OS but comes out failed like the BlackBerry 10, Samsung Tizen and Firefox OS.
Given the fact that they already have their own OS, a Huawei spokesperson quoted by South China Morning Post that “Android and Windows will always remain our first choices.”
