Let’s talk about how accurate ‘Boss Baby’ is

Lorrianne Aryenz Valdecantos

Okay, the title is a little far-fetched. A talking baby in a suit, no one notices it except for his brother and more talking, intelligent babies who can ride bikes and take out a big old man? Seems too cartoony but what I am talking about is the fact that according to the movie, people nowadays are preferring dogs over human babies.

PS: The Daily Dog Tag

Dogs are the purest thing on the planet and everyone agrees. They are loyal, lovable and everytime they wag their tails, people are ready to die for them. Considered to be man’s best friend, they are now our babies.

There is a research conducted about how millennials are refusing to have kids, instead prefers to have pets and keep them as their own. There are many factors of how this happened:

1) The cost of being a parent vs. Fur-parent. We all know that Milennials are one of the lowest salary-gaining generation compared to the Boomers. Though Millennials are one of the most educated, they sadly receive their salaries under the pay grade and it is no brainer that raising a four-legged pooch is far more cheaper than raising a child.

2) They want responsibility but not too much responsibility. Okay let’s make this brief, again, whose service is cheaper? A nanny or a dog walker?

3) Okay, maybe they want kids. Many couples practice handling responsibility of being parents by adopting a dog. They treat it like a parenting practice for the future. I mean, it sounds like a plan. Right?

Maybe Boss Baby is not really that wrong, that there is really a problem with how Millennials see parenthood. The underlying problem with the society today was mentioned in the movie, though it is masked by children’s cartoon and this generation’s stubbornness can actually lead to problems big enough to take a toll on the future.
