Expect a lot of traffic in the coming years around Fort Bonifacio as Bases Conversion and Development Authority and Megaworld Corporation will be collaborating to develop the 160-hectare portion of Fort Bonifacio as the new government center.

Megaworld and BCDA signed a memorandum of agreement during the press conference to develop the future ‘administrative capital of the country’.

The project is named as ‘Bonifacio Capital District’, which will be managed by Tan-led property development firm. Megaworld currently owns 88 hectares of the land which will be developed by BCDA. The new business district is expected to house the Senate, Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.

BCD will stretch from Lawton Avenue down to NAIA Expressway. The area encompasses the Megaworld’s McKinley Hill and McKinley West, and BCDA properties such as the 26-hectare Philippine Navy Officers Village (NOVAI), the 33.1-hectare Bonifacio South Pointe development of retail giant SM, the 10.1-hectare Consular property beside McKinley West, and a one-hectare lot of BCDA.

Under the master plan, 2.1 million square meters will be apportioned for mixed-use development while 1.26 million square meters will be developed for residential, office and commercial use.

The said development will be served by Metro Manila Subway through the proposed Lawton East Station and BGC extension of NAIA expressway.
Meanwhile, Megaworld eyes to develop the road around the ‘Bonifacio Capital District’ to manage the expected volume of traffic. Traffic management will include the development of bike lanes and pedestrian networks and command control center to be located in McKinley Hill.
