As the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio is known for its several tourist spots like Burnham Park, Wright Park and Mines View Park. But if you are looking for the artistic side of the infamous city, then, this is the right place that you should go- the BenCab Museum.
Named after one of our National Artists Benedicto Reyes Cabrebra, it offers us a one of a kind exhibits that shows us BenCab’s works which are renowned not only in the Philippines but also in Asia, Europe and United States.
Aside from the astounding collection of paintings inside, it will show you a harmonic view of the garden, the hill, mini forest and the farm on the outside just 15 minutes away from the heart of Baguio City. We can see in his works the contemporary arts that showcases mostly indigenous arts and crafts of Cordillera. You can also see his collection of his paintings, drawings, prints, and sculpture. BenCab also welcomes the other Filipino artists.
If you got tired of strolling around the museum, there is a cafe available for you to quench your thirst with its signature coffee blend, BenCab’s Brew which is freshly handpicked beans from the garden. Café Sabel also offers you fresh vegetables and herbs that come from the farm.
The next time you’ll be in Baguio City, it is a must that you should ride that jeep to Asin from the jeepney terminal near Baguio market. The general admission is 150 pesos only while for students, 120 pesos and for the senior citizens, 100 pesos. Just be sure to bring your ID with you to be properly handled.
