From the start of entering college to graduating, some strives on graduating on time while some accepts the fate that they’re going to graduate on mid-year instead because they got professors that played Russian roulette for their subject grade. An undeserving grade.
Many of us wants to graduate with latin honors to serve as giving-back to our parents for working hard just to give us allowance and extra money on countless hand-outs and printed home works every year.
Not graduating on time has a stigma already on students. If they knew you’re an irregular student, they will think that you flunked one subject because you did not exert more effort that’s why you received a failing mark. It’s a bonus point that they know you’re going to graduate at SM Sta. Mesa Cinema 5 instead at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) that your parents had dreamed of.
It’s a bothersome that the university separates the irregulars and makes them graduate somewhere that brings numerous disappointments on their parents and a burden with a mix of regret to the ones who are graduating.
Why not make the irregular students graduate on time but finish their education on mid-year and get the diploma? Isn’t that easy?
Before, the university conducts the mid-year graduation at the gym. Imagine some of the irregular students who did their best to graduate on time but never fulfilled it because of limitations and rules the college gave, feel the humiliation and being discriminated by judgmental people they know.
But since it’s already somewhere that’s air-conditioned, maybe there are only some who feels that humiliation and being discriminated because, hey, what’s important is that you graduate and get your diploma, right? Because that’s how ironic life is.
