In a country where men think that men is the dominant one using a negative remarks on the feminine side is okay. It is just a wordplay to describe a scenario. But in a country, where women thinks to fight for their right. It’s an attack to feminism. President Duterte had a nasty remarks on the women in front of the former rebels. For a group like Gabriela, this is really alarming it might promotes violence against women. It could trigger abusing women in the country futherly contributes to the climate of impunity of women’s rights.
This might degrade the status of the women in our society. A lot of women today fights for feminism. They envision a strong and independent women. How could the President gone into using such words and even tugs the name of womens genital on his speech. He even made it in the Malacañang Palace.
A clear attack on women is made by the President after making a statement about annihilating women’s genital could make them useless. A woman should not be taken and measured based on having vagina. This women can do a lot of things, they can rise against abuse and violence against their part.
We should respect and contribute to an equal view on sexes. Each of the sexes proven their worth in the society. Even if you are a man, woman, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer. You are part of the society which requires to get a fair share of human rights. Leaders like President Duterte should not throw a word that attacks everyone. A leader should know how to use his/her words properly. It embodies the whole country. It’s not the whole country that could adjust and bear with his words. It’s his duty to embrace the country, he’s ruling.
